Gayle Calhoun, Practice Manager/Owner
Gayle started working at Pocoshock Animal Hospital (PAH) on April 3, 2001, as a receptionist. This was after a 19-year career as a Federal Civil Servant with the USDA. Soon after starting at PAH, Gayle realized she was where she should have been all her life! While still a receptionist she started helping the Office Manager and eventually became the Office Manager, then Practice Manager. When Dr. Hickey decided to sell the practice, Gayle decided to buy it and got her husband, Bootsie, on board. After talking about it and getting details worked out for about two years, it finally happened on April 21, 2009. Gayle and Bootsie now own Pocoshock Animal Hospital. In her spare time Gayle enjoys making beaded jewelry, working on craft projects, making quilts, and spending time with her family and pets. She has 2 cats: Azul and Sybil. Both cats were strays that showed up at the hospital or at her home.

And one Dog, Elly, a Corgi/Collie mix, that sometimes comes to work with her. She is a proud mom to an amazing daughter and a diehard New York Mets fan. She enjoys reading and playing video & board games with her husband.
